In The News:-Suspected Female Terrorist Arrested In Maiduguri With Bomb In Food Flask

IT was a defeat of the power of evil secrecy Thursday as security agents arrested a suspected female suicide bomber who would have blown up the General Shuwa Memorial Hospital, Maiduguri and killed the health workers and the patients they labour hard to treat.

The suspected bomber, a fairly old woman, who was said to have been confronted first by the hospital’s security guards, was arrested after it was discovered that she hid an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in a food flask she was carrying.

According to the hospital authorities, the suspected terrorist disguised as a relation of a female patient who had come to present food at the maternity ward. But when she was stopped at the gate to open the two food flasks she was carrying before she could be allowed to proceed to the ward, she refused to open one of the flasks.

One of the hospital’s security guards narrated the story to journalists: “When she was asked to open the other flask, she refused, swearing that she will not open it. Our security guards have to call the soldiers at a military post to ascertain whether or not the flask contains any explosive.

Three minutes after, the bomb detector beeped for some seconds, indicating the presence of an explosive device, and the old woman was immediately whisked way by the military personnel to an unknown destination for further interrogation and investigation.”

On the identity of the suspect, he said that when the woman was asked about her place of residence, she responded that: “I am an old woman from Chibok town, and I wanted to deliver food to one of my relations admitted here in this hospital.”

Three hours after the arrest of the suspect, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) patrolling the airport road also arrested two Boko Haram suspects near the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) base and the Airport Roundabout by 2.31pm.

“The two suspects boarded a tricycle and taxi from the Tashan Journey near the 333 Nigerian Army Artillery, before they were intercepted by our members here at this check point in Gomari ward. They attempted fleeing, but we had to stop them from fleeing from the vehicles, and God was on our side to recover a rifle and a pistol hidden under their jeans pants,” said Yusuf Bala, brandishing a cutlass that assisted him in the arrests.

He said the fleeing Boko Haram insurgents from last Monday’s attacks in Damaturu, are infiltrating Maiduguri to hide and possible launch attacks in the metropolis.

“Our job was to patrol all the nooks and crannies of Maiduguri with stop and search of all vehicles moving in and out of this city. These arrested suspects had been handed over to soldiers in our sector for further interrogations and investigation,” said Bala.

A source in the Borno State Police Command also yesterday told The Guardian that two terror suspects were arrested by the CJTF in Gomari ward, including an old woman allegedly carrying explosives in a food flask at one of the hospitals in Government Reservation Area (GRA), Maiduguri.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun has attributed the nation’s security challenges to the failure of the PDP-led Federal Government to provide purposeful leadership.

He said insurgence were left unchecked for several years which eventually turn the northern part of the country to a warfare field expressed regret that the country could hardly boast of quality chain of intelligence gathering to counter unabated restiveness.

Oyegun who led the national leadership of the APC on condole visit to governor Rabiu Musa Owankwaso over last Friday multiple attacks on the Kano Central Mosque, announced donation of N5 million to Kano State to assist the victims of the attack.

He alleged that those who are entrusted with the protection of lives and properties are acting in a way and manner that can be described as connivance.

Boko Haram Gunmen Disguise As Traders, Kill Scores In Fresh Borno Attack (Too Bad)

Suspected Boko Haram gunmen in a convoy of Toyota Hilux vehicles and motorcycles attacked Damasak town in Borno State, yesterday, with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and petrol bombs, killing scores of residents. mass burial at the destroyed central mosque in Konduga Council Area on Wednesday

mass burial at the destroyed central mosque in Konduga Council Area on Wednesday, The gunmen were said to have stormed the town around 7 am. Damasak is a border town with Niger and 187 kilometres north of Maiduguri, the state capital.

The gunmen, according to Multinational Joint Task Force (MJTF) sources in Maiduguri, also torched and looted several houses and shops, before the soldiers rushed to the border town by 11.45pm, yesterday.

“I cannot give you the exact number of people killed today (yesterday) here in Damasak, but many people were killed while fleeing into the river and to Gashigar and Diffa towns for safety. The gunmen used IEDs and petrol bombs in attacking this town in the morning while most residents were still in their houses,” said the MJTF source, yesterday.

Another account of the attack had it that the gunmen disguised as traders and opened fire at a crowded market in the town.

A military officer, who had direct knowledge of the raid, told AFP that “the terrorists disguised as traders and opened fire on unsuspecting traders at a market in Damasak.”

Another witness, Mohammed Damasak, who works with the local government, said the weapons were concealed in containers the gunmen brought to the market.

“They pretended to be traders but sadly inflicted horror. Many traders escaped with bullet wounds while many are lying dead at the market,” he added.

Confirming yesterday’s attack, Senator Maina Ma’aji Lawan said one of the border towns in the Borno North Senatorial District was attacked, yesterday, by suspected Boko Haram Islamic militants with many residents killed, while others fled to Niger and into River Kumadugu for safety.

Lawan in telephone interview said: “The residents of Damasak, a border town with Niger, are in confusion with sporadic gunshots and looting of shops and houses. The reports I am receiving, as I speak, indicated that a lot of houses and shops there were set ablaze by insurgents that struck Monday morning. Most of the gunmen dressed in military uniform to disguise as Nigerian soldiers sent to protect Damasak, only to launch multiple attacks on this border town with a population of over 250,500.

“The firing powers of the gunmen overwhelmed our soldiers in the MJTF, so what they did was to flee the town for safety like the residents that fled into Niger and river this morning.”

The attack and killings in Damasak came barely 24 hours after the terrorists killed 48 fishermen and traders, weekend, at Doron Baga, 155 kilometres east of Damasak, the council headquarters of Mobbar in Borno State.

[Boko Haram News]Nigerian Military Launches Operation No Mercy On Boko Haram

If new reports are anything to stick a dollar on, then its safe to say that the Nigerian Army has woken up to their responsibility as it regards the Boko Haram insurgency.

The Nigerian Military has launched operation no mercy to decisively deal with the rampaging terrorists, THISDAY reports.

According to an intelligence source, the military will launch an all-out operation against the insurgents and other criminal elements, including those aiding and abetting them.

“They have already started, meaning that the moment you are being suspected and later confirmed of being a terrorist or their sponsors you are gone,” the source said.

The source added that “you cannot harbour criminals, terrorists that harm the country and expect the military to spare you.

“All these political solutions and ceasefire could have worked if we are dealing with people who are sensible but government has now come to realise that our military need to do their job. These terrorists don’t understand the language of negotiation.

“They could have allowed Gen. Ihejirika and the military then to do what they had to do and we wouldn’t have been in this situation today.

“Now what we have is a situation whereby the military is afraid of what the international community will do, what human rights groups championed by Amnesty International will say and the reaction of our political class that has been in the habit of criticising and harassing the armed forces, so-called leaders who will wake up and start criticising the operations for no good reason. The moment we do away with sentiments we. will begin to see result.

Hmm!!! Do you support this move ny the Nigerian Military – And does this mean, the ceasefire was actually a joke??

Nigerian Police Launches Operation To Recapture Mubi [Boko Haram]

Nigerian Police Force have been reportedly directed to lead Nigerian army to recapture Mubi, Adamawa State, seized by Boko Haram.

In the course of the strategic campaign the police mobile unit tagged Operation Guerilla was drafted to confront insurgents, attacking and ‘stealing’ the country’s North-East, Leadership reports.

According to the fresh report, the Police Mobile Force (PMF) special anti-terrorist unit, has already reached Marraba Mubi Junction, about 18 kilometres from Mubi to win back the town fallen under the control of Boko Haram terrorists.

The police representatives are allegedly being supported by the troops of the Nigerian army led by a colonel.

Excited residents of Marraba Mubi, Yohanna Gambo and Mallam Sanda Zira, said they saw a detachment of policemen keeping vigil at the junction leading to Mubi and Michika local governments.

“We were surprised to see a handful of mobile policemen because since the fall of Mubi, we never saw a security man.”

Adamawa police could not be reached for official comments on the matter, however a reliable source at the police command confirmed the development.

Is This POSSIBLE? Civilian JTF Promises To Fight Boko Haram In Mubi

The youth vigilante group, better known as Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) concerned by the fresh attacks of the Boko Haram group on towns and villages in Adamawa State, promised to beat off attacks by the terrorists.

The Adamawa State Coordinator of the youth vigilante group, Bako Goni expressed their readiness to take the fight against terror to the refuges of the Boko Haram.

Bako Goni said he and his associates were not scared of death.

“Every soul must taste death and therefore we are not afraid,” Mr. Goni said.

The coordinator said his group is optimistic that with their branches (Gora in Hausa) and other local arms, they will flush out the terrorists from their hideaways if the Federal Government gave them permission. He said if more people in the state could join the civilian JTF, they would lay an end to the terrorism which began five years ago.

Goni pleaded helpers to respect the law while clearing their public tasks. He tempted to those eager to help and partake to always follow the orders of the army and other security agencies while honouring their responsibilities.

The Adamawa State Coordinator of the organization underlines the need for people in the state to set up their own Civilian JTF to challenge the threat of the insurgents.

He said, “I want to thank the few boys and girls that sacrificed their lives and the effort they are collectively and voluntarily making in order to fight Boko Haram who are bent in not only destroying our social and economic structures, but also killing innocent lives of our citizenry.”

Boko Haram has already captured four local government areas in the state including Madagali, Michika, Mubi North and Mubi South, though some towns, including Maiha, Hong, and Gombi have become marks of attack by the insurgents in recent times with many citizens killed and several thousands of people evacuated.

[«FEAR OF BOKO HARAM »] Gombe State Governemnt Shuts Down All Schools

Following the recent attacks by Boko Haram members in the state, the Gombe state government has ordered the closure of all public and private schools in the state.

Parents who took their children to school this morning were asked to take them back home following the directive by the state govt which was sent out to all school heads in a circular yesterday evening.

The Permanent Secretary, Gombe state Government House, Sani Jauro confirmed the closure to NAN but said it was just a “normal mid-term break for students”.

VERY SHAMEFUL!!! Boko Haram Renames Captured Adamawa Town, Mubi, “City Of Islam”

According to Premium Times, Boko Haram members who captured Mubi town in Adamawa State as renamed the town as Madinatul Islam, meaning the City of Islam.

Here’s how Premium Times reports it;

Contrary to the claim by the Nigerian military that it is on top of the security challenge in the commercial town of Mubi in Adamawa state, the dreaded Boko Haram sect is consolidating its position in the the captured town and has indeed renamed it “ Madinatul Islam” meaning the city of Islam.

Aliyu Bala, one of the residents, who could not leave Mubi at the time of the invasion of the town by the insurgents, disclosed this in a telephone chat with journalists. He said the insurgents had taken complete control of the town.

“They mounted check points and surveillance at strategic locations, brandishing riffles but asking us not to panic or run away,” Mr. Bala said.

The trapped Mr. Bala said despite assurances of safety given to them by Boko Haram, thousands of the trapped residents have been sneaking out preferring not to take any chances.

Sunday Wugira, a Yola-based legal practitioner who went to Maiha town to pick up his aged parents that fled Mubi when it was captured said, despite the assurance by the insurgents several trapped residents are still fleeing, including soldiers.

‘’I was in Maiha few hours ago,” he said “The pathetic plight of the people I saw was simply beyond imagination. We were in a commercial bus when some fleeing soldiers said we must adjust for them to get space in the bus to flee, which we objected to. It’s unfortunate that even soldiers joined civilians to run away.”

Meanwhile, Boko Haram have urged displaced residents of captured communities of Adamawa state to return home, assuring them of safety in the “Islamic Caliphate.”

Four local governments: Michika, Madagali, Mubi North and Mubi South of Adamawa State, have fallen under the grip of Boko Haram leading to the displacement of thousands.

A resident of Uba town, Salisu Baba, said normal activities have picked up in the captured territories as Boko Haram enjoined residents to go about their normal activities and open their shops for business.

The resident added that the insurgents have warned politicians not to try to hold any election in the state, vowing to frustrate such actions.

The terrorists also vowed to capture the entire state soon.

“The insurgents have assured people of freedom and have been telling shop owners to open their shops threatening that anyone who fails to open their shop will have it broken into,” Mr. Baba said.

“Whenever the insurgents want any commodity, they pay for it. This encouraged meat sellers, tea sellers and others to open for business,” another resident disclosed.

“They provided security during the market day of Uba town last Thursday while promising to continue to give marketers and residents who come to the area utmost security as long as they comply with Islamic rules.”

“They have opened one of the filling stations belonging to A.A Garba in Uba town as motorists’ troops to buy the commodity due to high demand,” Mr. Baba said.

[In The New]Chibok: Negotiations With Boko Haram Ongoing – President Of Chad

President of Chad Idriss Deby said November 4 that negotiations with Boko Haram regarding the release of more than 200 Chibok girls abducted in April continued.

The country leader made this known while speaking in N’Djamena adding that the talks were ongoing despite what had been claimed by the sect leader Abubakar Shekau in the latest video released October 31, Nigerian Tribune reports.

Regarding the ceasefire agreement allegedly concluded between the Federal Government and the sect in Chad, Shekau said such deal had never existed at all.

Reacting to the development, Deby said the statement contradicted the earlier meeting and announcement of a deal to release them.

The top politician also expressed concern over the future of his country in the face of Boko Haram insurgency.

“With jihadist fighters prowling Libya’s deserts to the North, al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb active in the West and rebels and janjaweed militia battling in Sudan’s Darfur region to its East, Chad already finds itself in the eye of the storm… We are worried that they will come here next.”

The center of Boko Haram activity located less than 100 kilometres from the Chadian capital.

A security source in the country spoke earlier this month about sleeper cells of Boko Haram in the Lake Chad region. However they are no longer “sleeping”, the source provides the update now, adding that “they have started waking”.

Boko Haram Has Taken Over Eight Borno LGs - Governor, Kashim

The Borno State Governor, Mr. Kashim Shettima of on Tuesday expressed worry on how Boko Haram had taken over eight out of the 27 local government areas of the state.

Shettima disclosed this while receiving members of the Federal Government Sub-committee of the Victims Supports Fund in Maiduguri.

He said that the continued attacks on communities in the state had created hardships on the people.

Shettima said, “The insurgents have taken over nearly eight LGAs in the state.

“They have taken over Gamboru- Ngala, Kala-Balge, Marte, Dikwa, Gwoza, Bama, Askira-Uba and part of Konduga local government areas.

“The insurgents have also carried out recent attacks in Abadam, Kukawa.” Shettima, however, expressed optimism that the insurgency would end in a short while, saying “I strongly believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

“We are going to bounce back very soon by the grace of God.” Speaking earlier, retired Air Marshal Jonah Wuyep, the sub-committee chairman on data collection, had commended the governor for his supports to insurgency victims.

“We commend the responsible leadership of Shettima for what he has been doing in helping victims of insurgency in the state,” Wuyep said. He said that the state alone could not be able to effectively provide help to victims of insurgency, especially with the renewed attacks on villages.

“Borno alone cannot be able to handle the problems of Internally Displaced Persons because lots of things needed to be done.

Wuyep said, “The Federal Government will step in to provide supports to the IDPs. “The sub-committee was set up to gather data on the number of IDPs and infrastructure that were destroyed for government to intervene.

“The president is worried about the plight of the IDPs that is why the victim support fund was inaugurated. “Our sub-committee was set up to get the details on the ground so that government can intervene.”

He said that the sub-committee decided to visit Borno first because of the enormity of damage done by the insurgents in the state.

Boko Haram attacks: Atiku holds press conference, says situation is grave

Former VP Atiku Abubakar who is from Adamawa state, one of the worst hit by Boko Haram, held a press conference today November 3rd at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja where he addressed the attacks of the sect members on Mubi and other towns in northern Nigeria. Atiku described the current situation as grave and appealed to the international community to come to Nigeria’s aid. Full text of his speech after the cut…

Gentlemen of the Press:

It is with deep regret that I came to learn that Mubi, which is one the largest towns in Adamawa State of northeast Nigeria, has been taken by the terrorist group commonly known as Boko Haram. As you may know, in recent weeks and months, Mubi has been a town to which displaced persons from further north have fled for safety after their communities fell to Boko Haram. As I speak, the inhabitants of Mubi, together with those who went there for safety, find themselves at the mercy of this terrorist group.

I am Nigerian. I believe in the integrity of Nigeria as a whole, and every part of this country matters to me. But I was born and bred in the northeast. So, please, excuse me if I should say a few words about the part of the country where I am from, about what the people from the northeast of Nigeria have had to suffer for far, far too long.

Things should never have got to this stage. Thousands of Nigerians have had to flee their homes. Their houses and farms have been destroyed.

They do not know where to go or how to restart their lives. That is the degree to which we have come in this country. I say this with reluctance and with shame. The situation in which we find ourselves today is grave. Much of Borno, and the north of Adamawa and Yobe states is already at the mercy of the terrorists. It started a few months ago with Bama, which is nearly 400 kilometres from Yola, capital of Adamawa State.

The next major town to be taken by terrorists was Gwoza, where a terrorist caliphate flag has long been hoisted. Smaller towns near Gwoza such as Pulka and Limankra are equally not free. Next was Madagali. The town is still being occupied.

Then fell Gulak. Next was Michika, then Bazza. Next was the twin town of Uba which is half Adamawa and half Bornu. Its neighboring town of Lassa was also overrun. Uba was the latest town captured before the terrorists trampled on Mubi. People from these troubled areas are now pouring into Yola for safety.

As somebody who hails from Adamawa State, you can appreciate why I feel such emotion at the fate of my people.

For whatever reason, our defence forces are unable to cope and unable to defend. My sympathies go out to the soldiers who find themselves in a situation not of their making. This is a crisis of leadership.

We were told that the budget for security was going to be enlarged so that the security agencies and military would be in a better position to tackle the insurgency. How is it possible that a great nation like Nigeria should find itself in a situation where a handful of terrorists is able to invade a town as large as Mubi with a population of about 300,000? How were the insurgents able to so easily take a town of this size, and the people find themselves defenseless and undefended? How is it that the people have been made to suffer as they have?

I have previously spoken about the deteriorating security situation in this country on a number of occasions. On those occasions I deliberately restrained myself from speaking in a manner that might be construed as distracting the government and the security forces as they grappled with the dire security situation. But the scale of injustice the people of Nigeria are suffering has reached a stage where I am obliged to amplify my concerns.

Many of our citizens, unable to come to terms with why a so- called “Africa’s best army” has been unable to confront this horrendous situation, are increasingly assuming that this whole thing is about electoral politics. They suspect that the seeming inability of the government to end the crisis is a ploy to weaken some parts of the country ahead of the 2015 elections. Can we, in all honesty, blame them for having those suspicions?

I call upon the international community to help us. I am making a special appeal to countries with sufficient knowhow and experience in tackling terrorism to increase their assistance to us.

The relief agencies that are already working here should please double their efforts. And all people of goodwill should help in any way they can and to do more than they have been doing to alleviate the pain and suffering that we Nigerians face through this insurgency.

At a time when we are constantly bombarded with horror stories of ugly events elsewhere in the world – here in West Africa, we are faced with the Ebola epidemic and other trouble spots – I draw your attention to a humanitarian crisis which is also a matter of international security.

This Boko Haram insurgency has been with us now for several years but has, in these last few days, taken a step further towards being a disaster of unimaginable proportions.

Hundreds of thousands of people are at risk. Nigeria needs the world’s support. The world must not abandon Nigerians in our time of need.

Thank you.

5 Military Commanders Arrested For Abandoning Mubi To Boko Haram

Five or six military commanders have been arrested and detained by the army after they abandoned, withdrew from Mubi, Mararaba, Michika, Madagali, and Vimtim communities when Boko Haram men attacked the areas last week, allowing the insurgents to take over some areas.

Some soldiers were also detained. According to Sahara Reporters, the military commanders are being detained at the military police guard room at the 23 Brigade HQ, in Yola, Adamawa state.

The commander whose names and ranks were given as Colonel Ibrahim, Lt. Colonel Magaji and three others abandoned the 213 Brigade headquarters a few minutes after Boko Haram militants reached Mararaba and Hildi on the outskirts of Mubi.

Defense officials in Abuja had told Saharareporters that investigations were ongoing as to the cause of abandonment of the battle front by the commanders.

Another set of commanders from the 234 Brigade are expected to be detained by the military authorities as soon as they leave the MRS Hospital in Yola in a day or two according our sources.

The team includes Lt. Col O.A Agwu and his lieutenants.

They equally fled the battle scene in Mubi and allowed Boko Hara militants to take the town with resistance.

However, Lt. Col Agwu’s pick up van somersaulted twice and crashed injuring him and his lieutenants as they fled Mubi.

Mubi had three army battalions comprising of the “234 Brigade, the 213 Brigade and the 21 Support Group” when it fell to militants last Thursday. The soldiers fled alongside civilians to neighboring villages in Nigeria and Cameroon.

A Punch newspaper report today claims that over 300 soldiers fled to Cameroon.

SaharaReporters could confirm that the rest of the soldiers are in “MIA” mode in Song Adamawa state where they await further orders to act against Boko Haram.

Defeating Boko Haram, Nigeria’s responsibility - Britain

The British government has said there is a limit to what assistance it can offer Nigeria as Boko Haram renews its attacks in the North-East.

While acknowledging the complex nature of the insurgency, the British government, through its Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Joyce Anelay, stated that her country was in constant discussion with the Federal Government.

The minister, who was fielding questions from the House of Lords on Thursday, however, said the British government was cautious of what it said about the ongoing insurgency in Nigeria.

She told the parliament, “Nigeria faces a serious threat from Boko Haram. We believe that more than 3,000 people have been killed by Boko Haram this year and more than 1.5 million people have been displaced. We are aware of reports that Nigerian authorities have agreed to a ceasefire with Boko Haram and are in ongoing negotiations. We are also aware of reports of Boko Haram attacks since the ceasefire announcement. We monitor events closely.

“Boko Haram deliberately targets the weak and vulnerable, causing suffering in communities of differing faiths and ethnicities. It has no regard for human life. We are in continual discussion with the Nigerian authorities to press exactly as the noble Baroness says, and we give as much support as we can in intelligence matters.”

During the question-and-answer session, a member of parliament, Caroline Cox, who had made visits to areas worst hit by current militants’ insurrection, urged the British government to put pressure on Nigeria to be more effective in tackling the insurgency.

“I thank the minister for that sympathetic reply. Is she aware that I have visited areas afflicted by Boko Haram and found that the scale of suffering to which she refers massively exceeds that reported by the media?

“Despite reports of a peace agreement with Boko Haram, to which the Minister refers, local people do not believe that the federal and state authorities are sufficiently willing or able to stop Boko Haram’s reign of terror.

Therefore, will Her Majesty’s government make the strongest possible representation to the government of Nigeria to do much more to implement effective policies to protect all its citizens from this escalating terrorism?” Cox said.

Responding to her questions and those posed by other members of the parliament, Anelay pointed out that Britain would give Nigeria the strongest support it could, adding that a Sentinel and Tornado GR4 aircraft had already been deployed to assist in the fight against Boko Haram.

She noted, “We are therefore most cautious in what we say in these matters. What I will say is that it is for the Nigerian authorities to resolve the matter. We will give the strongest support we can.”

Nigerian Soldiers Working as Boko Haram Spies Arrested

Some Nigerian soldiers, who double as moles for Boko Haram, giving the sect vital information about the military’s strategies and tactics, have been arrested, new reports confirm.

According to AllAfrica.com, the nation’s military has arrested those soldiers it suspected were working as double agents for Boko Haram.

“It was gathered that the alleged moles among the soldiers leaked the information on the deployment of soldiers from Maimalari Barracks in April this year to the terrorists, which led to an ambush and killing of so many soldiers of the 101 Battalion”

Military commanders are putting the pieces together and revisiting all the incidents in which Boko Haram succeeded because it might have had intelligence about secret operations.

And according to a site, who spoke to the site;

“The situation became so bad that there was mutual suspicion among fellow commanders, the brigade headquarters and even the division headquarters. But at last, the moles were found out to be some of the orderlies and aides of commanders”, the source said.

“What they do is that after operational briefings and troops take off, these moles immediately pass on the information through calls”

While the Nigerian military is still conducting investigations to flush out more spies, the ones already caught will be charged with criminal conspiracy and possibly other crimes.

Too bad – No wonder the Boko Haram thing has grown stronger or what do you think???

“Boko Haram Raped, Beat Us” – Abducted Girls

Girls and women abducted by boko haram have described their shocking life in captivity in a harrowing new report by Human Rights Watch that was published yesterday.

In the 63-page report, entitled “‘Those Terrible Weeks in Their Camp': boko haram Violence against Women and Girls in Northeast Nigeria,” 47 witnesses and victims, including some of the 276 Chibok girls kidnapped in April described forced marriages and, if they were Christian, orders to convert to Islam or be executed.

A 15-year-old girl who was held in a Boko Haram camp for four weeks in 2013 spoke of how she was forced to marry a militant more than twice her age:

“After we were declared married I was ordered to live in his cave but I always managed to avoid him. He soon began to threaten me with a knife to have sex with him, and when I still refused he brought out his gun, warning that he would kill me if I shouted. Then he began to rape me every night. He was a huge man in his mid-30s and I had never had sex before. It was very painful and I cried bitterly because I was bleeding afterwards.”

A 19-year-old who was raped said:

“I could not tell anyone what happened, not even my husband. I still feel so ashamed and cheated.” Another woman with her, who was also raped, “vowed never to speak of it again as she was single and believes that news of her rape would foreclose her chances of marriage”.

The majority of abductions by Boko Haram were of Christian women and girls, and many of HRW’s interviewees described being threatened with death or violence if they refused to convert to Islam. One woman said:

“I was dragged to the camp leader who told me the reason I was brought to the camp was because we Christians worship three gods. When I objected to his claim, he tied a rope around my neck and beat me with a plastic cable until I almost passed out. An insurgent who I recognised from my village convinced me to accept Islam lest I should be killed. So I agreed.” Some abducted women and girls described forced labour and participation in military operations. A 19-year-old said:

“I was told to approach a group of five men we saw in a nearby village and lure them to where the insurgents were hiding.” She told the young men that she needed help. “When they followed me for a short distance, the insurgents swooped on them. Once we got back to the camp, they tied the legs and the hands of the captives and slit the throats of four of them as they shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’. Then I was handed a knife to kill the last man. I was shaking with horror and couldn’t do it. The camp leader’s wife took the knife and killed him.” Many of those interviewed by HRW showed signs of stress and anguish, according to the report, although only the Chibok girls had been offered limited counselling. One 15-year-old girl said:

“I could not stop crying even when the insurgents threatened to kill me if I did not keep quiet. I kept on thinking, is it not better to die now than to face whatever terrible things they could do to me when we get to their camp? Even after I escaped from them and live far away from my village, I am still afraid. I think of death many times. My father tries. He encourages me to forget everything, but it is not easy for me. I have terrible dreams at night.”

All of those interviewed by HRW said more could have been done by government security forces to prevent abductions and respond more quickly when they happened. The organisation calls on the Nigerian authorities to investigate and prosecute those who commit serious crimes, to protect schools and the right to education, and ensure access to medical and mental health services for victims of abductions.

Breaking News: 30 Boys, Girls Was Abducted By Boko Haram in Fresh Attack

According to a breaking news report on AFP, around 30 adolescents — some of them girls aged as young as 11 — have been abducted in northeast nigeria by suspected boko haram rebels.

“The insurgents… grabbed young people, boys and girls, from our region,” said Alhaji Shettima Maina, who is in charge of the Mafa village around 50 kilometres (30 miles) east of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.

“They took all boys aged 13 and over… and all girls aged 11 and more. According to our information, 30 young people were abducted in the last two days.”

Another village elder, Mallam Ashiekh Mustapha, confirmed the account. Both men said 17 people were also killed in recent days in a boko haram attack on the nearby village of Ndongo. Boko Haram, which has been waging a bloody insurgency since 2009, has been responsible for waves of attacks and abductions.

In April, the Islamist rebel group snatched more than 200 schoolgirls from Chibok in northeast Nigeria, triggering an international outcry. Kidnapping young women and girls — as well as forcibly conscripting young men and boys to fight for Boko Haram — is a well-established tactic by the militants. Some estimates put the number of women held by the group in the high hundreds. Most are believed to be forced into marriages with rebels.

The latest kidnapping comes despite the Nigerian government declaring a truce with the insurgents and the army retaking control of Abadam in the north-east on Saturday, according to a senior security official in the region. But local chief Maina said his village and areas around it were targeted in nearly daily raids by Boko Haram, and many residents have fled to Maiduguri “for fear of being killed or losing their children”. He said he had pleaded for help from the Nigerian government but that so far none had been forthcoming.

EXPOSED : Full List Of Boko Haram Sponsors In Nigeria

Interview with a former BOKO HARAM Leader, Sheik Sani Haliru (Now Brother Paul Haliru) who has now converted to the Christian faith after 44 years as a Muslim Jihadist hardliner revealed the full list of Boko Haram Sponsor!!!

Question: Who are you and where are you from? Answer: My name is Sheik Sani Haliru. I am from Niger Republic, but my mother is from Borno State of Nigeria and I grew up in Wulari, Maiduguri, (Northern Nigeria) where I was trained.

Q: Trained as what and under whose tutelage?

A: I was trained as an Almajiri, after four years,at the age of 14, I was sent to Kano City, Kano State where I was trained in the Sheik Abubakar Gummi School of Arabic studies.

Q: So you know Sheik Abubakar Gummi?

A: Yes, and I also know his children and obeyed all the teachings he laid down before he died.

Q: So who tutored you and who is your mentor?

A: Sheik Abubakar Gummi tutored me. My mentor was Osama bin Laden, and until my conversion from Islam to the Christian faith, my dreams and aspirations in life was to do more than Osama bin Laden did before he died on Sunday, May 1, 2011.

Q: You said that your mentor was Osama bin Laden. Is he still your mentor?

A: I am now a changed person. The Sheik Sani Haliru is now a new creature, old things have passed away because I now have Jesus Christ that I hated and persecuted for 44 years.

Q: Tell me about your past and how many countries of the World you have been to?

A: I cannot tell all about my past because it will take several days to tell my story and about my conversion experience to Christianity. I have been to eight countries.

Q: Can you please name them?

A: I have been to Sudan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Egypt and of course to my own country Niger Republic.

Q: Where did you receive your training and as what?

A: I received my training in Libya and Pakistan as an Attack Strategist. I was trained along side with some highly placed Nigerians and other foreign Nationals who were marked (he showed me the proof of his mark with a sign) in the form of a sword in the hand to fight and kill for Allah.

Q: Can you give me some of the names of your colleagues with whom you received training in Libya and Pakistan?

A: They are scattered all over the country and we were not too many then.

Q: Just mention but a few names.

A: Ali Baba Nur, Asari Dokubo, Jasper Akinbo, Mohammed Yusuf, Salisu Maigari, Danlami Abubakar, Cletus Okar, Ali Qaqa, Maigari Haliru and Asabe Dantala to mention but a few.

Q: Which of the Asari’s do you mean?

A: The Niger Delta war king. He was a year ahead of me in Benghazi training camp in Libya.

Q: Who financed your training in Libya and Pakistan?

A: You will not believe me and only God will judge the Chief sponsor of terrorism in Nigeria whose name I will not mention because he is so powerful and even the president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, is so much afraid of the man.

Q: If you really know the Christ in you, why are you afraid to tell me the name of the man who sponsored you and the date or approximate period he sponsored you.

A: I am not afraid because he knows me and he cannot deny it if he sees me face to face.

Q: Then tell me, who is this powerful man?

A: The man is no other person than the man they call IBB now as I am talking to you, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida has more than 600 men and women Jihadists who are under his pay role. They are scattered all over the Country and he (IBB) can use them to destroy Nigeria.

Q: Did you say six hundred?

A: Yes 600 + IBB’s agents of destruction are in the Nigeria Army (NA), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Navy, Air Force, Oil and Gas sectors, even in the finance home such as in top level positions of CBN (Central Bank of Nigeria) and other banks. You find them in politics, in the Senate, National Assembly, in the media both print and electronic and even in Aso Rock, Abuja (Nigeria’s capital).

Q: How do you mean by this statement “and even in the finance…”?

A: Yes, I mean every word I say; even the Islamic bank champion was planted by IBB to help in Islamizing Nigeria. Q: So how can you describe IBB?

A: IBB is a “green snake” in green grass. He is the main problem of Nigeria along with members of the Cabal.

Q: Have you forwarded any of these evidence(s) to Aso Rock or to SSS (State Security Services)?

A: I attempted to do so a few weeks ago and I was arrested and detained for two days because IBB’S men are so many in SSS (State Security Services) as well. After I was released by the grace of God, they (the Police) warned me never to blow up the polity or provoke violence and I should keep my so-called born-again with me or else I will go to jail.

Q: So you were a key member and a registered jihadist hardliner.

A: Yes, I was.

Q: Under what group?

A: I was a Boko Haramist. But Boko Haram is just a cover name to give it a name. I have my identity as a founding member of the dreaded jama’aful Ahlul sunna wal Liddawati wal Jihad, aka Boko Haram.

Q: Apart from IBB, who are the other top sponsors of terrorism in this country?

A: They are many, but IBB is the major financier. He introduced the suicide bombing that started when he killed Dele Giwa. I have the names of six traditional rulers and seven present & ex- Governors as well as several top military and security officers who are co-sponsoring the so called Boko Haram.
